In response to citizens' proposal to peg the stablecoin to gold, Chan stated that the government will consider this possibility after completing the first phase of the stablecoin framework. The government is currently conducting related research but emphasizes the need for careful consideration. This forum is part of the Hong Kong government's public consultation on the new budget, which will be officially released on the 25th of next month.
